Lipo-C + Vit B12
Lipo-C + Vit B12 is a lipotropic blend in a 10 ml vial combining three amino acids and derivatives (L-Carnitine, L-Arginine, Methionine), two compounds tied to lipid metabolism (Inositol and Choline) and three B-complex vitamins (B5, B6 and B12).
Important: this is not a peptide. It is a mixture of nutrients and amino acids whose interest centres on energy metabolism and hepatic fat processing.
Composition
Lipo-C + Vit B12 is supplied in a 10 ml vial and groups eight components with distinct biochemical functions that converge on energy metabolism.
Lipotropic base
Methionine, Inositol and Choline: the classic combination associated with hepatic lipid processing.
Amino acids
L-Carnitine and L-Arginine, linked to fatty acid transport and the nitric oxide pathway.
B complex
Vitamins B5, B6 and B12, cofactors in pathways that derive energy from nutrients.
Unlike the rest of the catalogue, this product is not a peptide. It is a mixture of amino acids, amino acid derivatives and vitamins, so its analytical frame is nutritional and metabolic rather than peptide signalling.
What lipotropics are
The term lipotropic designates compounds that participate in the transport and mobilisation of fats in the liver. Their classic role is described in relation to phospholipid synthesis and the export of lipids from the hepatocyte into circulation.
The best known combination is abbreviated MIC: Methionine, Inositol and Choline. Methionine is an essential amino acid acting as a methyl group donor. Choline is an essential nutrient for the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine, a structural component of membranes and of the lipoproteins that carry fat out of the liver.(2) Inositol participates in cell signalling linked to insulin.(3)
Role of Each Component
L-Carnitine. Its best established function is transporting long-chain fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane, a necessary step for their oxidation. Without carnitine, those fatty acids cannot enter the mitochondrion to be used as an energy source.(1)
Methionine. Essential amino acid and methyl group donor via S-adenosylmethionine. It is involved in methylation reactions implicated in lipid metabolism.
Inositol. A compound related to second messenger signalling. The literature has explored its role in insulin sensitivity and metabolic disorders.(3)
Choline. A recognised essential nutrient. Its deficiency is associated in the literature with hepatic fat accumulation, precisely because of its role in forming phosphatidylcholine and exporting lipids.(2)
L-Arginine. Amino acid precursor of nitric oxide, a molecule involved in regulating vascular tone and blood flow.
B Complex
The three vitamins included act as enzymatic cofactors rather than as active agents in themselves.
- ✓B5 (pantothenic acid): precursor of coenzyme A, central to fatty acid metabolism and the Krebs cycle.
- ✓B6 (pyridoxine): cofactor in a wide range of amino acid metabolism reactions.
- ✓B12 (cobalamin): required for DNA synthesis and homocysteine metabolism. Its deficiency produces well characterised haematological and neurological presentations.(4)
One point that is often confused deserves clarifying: supplying a cofactor only improves a metabolic pathway when a prior deficiency exists. In the absence of a deficit, adding more cofactor does not accelerate the pathway.
Evidence Status
Each component has well established biochemical functions individually. What is not equally established is that their combined, injectable administration produces measurable clinical effects on body composition in people without nutritional deficiencies.
The literature on injectable lipotropic blends as a weight loss intervention is sparse and methodologically limited. Presenting a nutrient's biochemical function as equivalent to a clinical effect is a leap the available evidence does not support.
Safety Considerations
Important warnings
- This formulation does not hold INVIMA registration as a medicine.
- It does not replace diet, physical activity or follow-up by a healthcare professional.
- Vitamin B6 at high, sustained doses has been associated with peripheral sensory neuropathy; total intake should be monitored.
- Injectable administration carries a risk of local reaction, infection and hypersensitivity reactions.
- Insufficient data are available in pregnancy, lactation or paediatric populations.
The vial requires refrigerated storage between 2 and 8 °C and protection from light. As a multi-dose presentation, handling must be performed under aseptic conditions.
